Weapons per­mits

Grant­ing of weapons per­mits, recog­ni­tion of shoot­ing as­so­ci­a­tions and ap­proval of parts of the sports reg­u­la­tions of shoot­ing as­so­ci­a­tions

The Fed­er­al Of­fice of Ad­min­is­tra­tion is the com­pe­tent au­thor­i­ty for grant­ing weapons per­mits to the groups of per­sons re­ferred to in Ar­ti­cle 48 (2) of the Weapons Act.

Weapons per­mits are grant­ed to:

  • for­eign diplo­mats, con­sular of­fi­cers and oth­er priv­i­leged for­eign per­sons treat­ed as such,
  • the per­son­nel of for­eign armed forces sta­tioned in Ger­many as well as their spous­es and de­pen­dent chil­dren,
  • per­sons as­signed to pro­tect for­eign air­craft and sea-go­ing ships, and
  • Ger­mans in the sense of Ar­ti­cle 116 of the Ba­sic Law who have their ha­bit­u­al res­i­dence out­side the area of ap­pli­ca­tion of the Weapons Law.

Pur­suant to Ar­ti­cle 15 of the Weapons Act, the Fed­er­al Of­fice of Ad­min­is­tra­tion is al­so charged with the recog­ni­tion of shoot­ing as­so­ci­a­tions and the ap­proval of the parts of their sports reg­u­la­tions that are sig­nif­i­cant for the im­ple­men­ta­tion of the Weapons Act and the statu­to­ry in­stru­ments based up­on it.
