Granting of weapons permits, recognition of shooting associations and approval of parts of the sports regulations of shooting associations
The Federal Office of Administration is the competent authority for granting weapons permits to the groups of persons referred to in Article 48 (2) of the Weapons Act.
Weapons permits are granted to:
- foreign diplomats, consular officers and other privileged foreign persons treated as such,
- the personnel of foreign armed forces stationed in Germany as well as their spouses and dependent children,
- persons assigned to protect foreign aircraft and sea-going ships, and
- Germans in the sense of Article 116 of the Basic Law who have their habitual residence outside the area of application of the Weapons Law.
Pursuant to Article 15 of the Weapons Act, the Federal Office of Administration is also charged with the recognition of shooting associations and the approval of the parts of their sports regulations that are significant for the implementation of the Weapons Act and the statutory instruments based upon it.
