Information technology
Information Technology (IT) plays a major role in modern public administration. The use of electronic means for communication with citizens and businesses, but also within authorities, is growing. For the efficient development and expansion of specialised applications, which can be used successfully by the BVA as its service portfolio in a large number of government authorities, IT initiatives are supported and coordinated centrally in the BVA. The BVA not only uses tried and tested standards itself but also makes them available to other authorities and institutions. For instance, the IsyFact standard used to build operational information systems is available to a wider audience as an open-source system.
