As the central service provider of the Federal Government, the Federal Office of Administration (Bundesverwaltungsamt, BVA) takes up more than 10 different tasks for the federal ministries and their departments. These include specialist tasks, centralized horizontal functions and modernization assistance.
By carrying out cross-sectional administrative tasks centrally, e.g. the payment of salaries and wages, grants, travel management, time and attendance recording, and recruitment, the BVA helps the federal agencies concentrate on their core tasks, thus enhancing quality and efficiency.
The BVA modernization assistance to other institutions includes advisory and coaching services, giving an impetus for modern management in the fields of strategic governance, organization, personnel and information technology (IT).
For more detailed information on some selected services provided by the BVA in an international context, see the following pages.
