Ger­man schools in Rio and Boston nom­i­nat­ed for the Ger­man School Award

14 ex­cel­lent schools are in the end round for the award of the Ger­man School Award (Deutsch­er Schul­preis) 2017. Del­e­ga­tions of pupils and teach­ers will take part in the awards cer­e­mo­ny with Fed­er­al Chan­cel­lor An­gela Merkel in Berlin on 29 May. Al­ready for the sec­ond time Ger­man schools abroad could par­tic­i­pate in the com­pe­ti­tion.

Re­gion­al Net­work­ing Con­fer­ence Cairo: ‘We are DAS!’

‘We are DAS!’ was the mot­to of the Re­gion­al Net­work­ing Con­fer­ence of Re­gion 11, in­clud­ing Egypt, the Pales­tini­an ter­ri­to­ries, Lebanon and Ke­nia. From 24 to 25 March, head­mas­ters, ad­min­is­tra­tion man­agers and school board mem­bers of Ger­man schools abroad (DAS) of the re­gion came to­geth­er in Cairo.

Fi­nal­ly, al­so in re­gion 9, eleven Ger­man schools abroad met in Dublin from 9 to 11 Mach for the First Re­gion­al Net­work­ing Con­fer­ence in Cen­tral Eu­rope. They had been in­vit­ed by St. Kil­lian's Ger­man School in Dublin and the Cen­tral Agen­cy for Schools Abroad (ZfA).

On 16 Novem­ber, 2016, the cer­e­mo­ni­al launch event for the cur­rent EU Twin­ning Project of the Fed­er­al Of­fice of Ad­min­is­tra­tion en­ti­tled "Sup­port to the for­mu­la­tion, co­or­di­na­tion and im­ple­men­ta­tion of an­ti-cor­rup­tion poli­cies in Al­ba­nia" was held at the Tirana Uni­ver­si­ty (Al­ba­nia) Fac­ul­ty of So­cial Sci­ence.

Ex­change on ESF man­age­ment with Lithua­nia

On 6 and 7 De­cem­ber 2016, a del­e­ga­tion from the Lithua­ni­an Min­istry of Fi­nance vis­it­ed the Fed­er­al Of­fice of Ad­min­is­tra­tion (BVA) for an ex­change on best prac­tices re­gard­ing the man­age­ment of ESF fund­ing. The vis­it in the frame­work of TAIEX Re­gio Peer 2 Peer took place un­der the head­ing ‘Use of re­payable as­sis­tance’ in the con­text of EU Struc­tural Fund sup­port.

Ex­change with rep­re­sen­ta­tives of Geor­gia, Moldo­va and Ukraine on ad­min­is­tra­tive mod­ern­iza­tion and or­ga­ni­za­tion­al con­sul­tan­cy at the Fed­er­al Of­fice of Ad­min­is­tra­tion

From Septem­ber to De­cem­ber the Fed­er­al Of­fice of Ad­min­is­tra­tion (BVA) re­ceived three del­e­ga­tions in co­op­er­a­tion with the Eu­ro­pean Acade­my Berlin (EAB). The del­e­ga­tions vis­it­ed the BVA un­der the Acade­my for Good Gov­er­nance and Em­pow­er­ment in Eu­rope (AGREE), a pro­gramme based on col­lab­o­ra­tions of the Fed­er­al Gov­ern­ment with the gov­ern­ments of Geor­gia, Moldo­va and Ukraine aimed at sup­port­ing trans­for­ma­tion pro­cess­es in the pub­lic sec­tor of the re­spec­tive coun­try.

BVA Twin­ning Project in Mace­do­nia ends in cel­e­bra­tion

The clos­ing event of the BVA Twin­ning Project, ‘Sup­port to ef­fi­cient pre­ven­tion and fight against cor­rup­tion’, held on 13 Oc­to­ber 2016 in Skop­je (Mace­do­nia), was at­tend­ed by a large num­ber of rep­re­sen­ta­tives from both Mace­do­nian and in­ter­na­tion­al or­gan­i­sa­tions.

Del­e­ga­tion from Geor­gia vis­its the Fed­er­al Of­fice of Ad­min­is­tra­tion

From 4 to 6 Oc­to­ber 2016, a del­e­ga­tion from the Geor­gian Civ­il Ser­vice Bu­reau (CSB) vis­it­ed the Fed­er­al Of­fice of Ad­min­is­tra­tion (BVA) in Cologne in the frame­work of a study trip un­der the TAIEX in­stru­ment of the Eu­ro­pean Union. The vis­it fo­cused on the func­tion­al anal­y­sis of pub­lic in­sti­tu­tions. TAIEX is short for "Tech­ni­cal As­sis­tance and In­for­ma­tion Ex­change in­stru­ment", an ini­tia­tive of the Eu­ro­pean Com­mis­sion for the pro­mo­tion of cross-bor­der ad­min­is­tra­tive co­op­er­a­tion aimed at sup­port­ing EU can­di­date and neigh­bour­ing coun­tries with re­gard to the ap­prox­i­ma­tion, ap­pli­ca­tion and en­force­ment of EU leg­is­la­tion.

What are de­ci­sive suc­cess fac­tors when it comes to im­ple­ment­ing ad­min­is­tra­tive mod­ern­iza­tion projects and how can you es­tab­lish sus­tain­able pro­cess­es in ad­min­is­tra­tive mod­ern­iza­tion? Those were the ques­tions the twelve rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the Mo­roc­can ad­min­is­tra­tion brought with them when they came on a study trip to the Fed­er­al Of­fice of Ad­min­is­tra­tion in Cologne on 30 Septem­ber 2016.

Ex­change of ex­pe­ri­ence on the man­age­ment of EU struc­tural funds in Croa­t­ia

Five rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the Croa­t­ian Min­istry of Pub­lic Ad­min­is­tra­tion (MoPA) vis­it­ed the Fed­er­al  Of­fice of Ad­min­is­tra­tion on 29 Au­gust 2016 where they hoped to gain in­sights in­to the Ger­man ad­min­is­tra­tive prac­tices for the use of EU struc­tural funds.
